Day 1

Overnight flight from USA


 
Day 2

Arrival in Umbria - Orvieto
After arrival at the Umbria airport meet Mondo Verde Expeditions LLC at the airport’s exit. Transfer from Umbria to Orvieto located 50 miles away. We gather in the town of Orvieto, noted for its magnificent cathedral adorned with resplendent mosaics and Medieval sculpture. We'll meet in the early evening to talk about our trip and to dine together. Overnight Orvieto.


 
Day 3

Lake Corbara
After a morning tour of Orvieto, we takea walk above Lake Corbara on oour way towards Todi. We stay two nights at a peaceful farmhouse with stunning views, a swimming pool and a spa. Dinner at the hotel this evening. Overnight Todi.


 
Day 4

Montecastello di Vibio
This morning we take a quiet country walk, stopping for a picnic along the way. Afterwards, we reach tiny Montecastello di Vibio, and visit the town’s carefully restored 99-seat theatre. In the afternoon there will be time for a swim or a relaxing massage in the spa in the pool before a dinner at the hotel. Overnight Todi.


 
Day 5

Todi & Deruta
We first visit the town of Todi and then travel on to Deruta, world famous for its ceramics, and then stop for a visit and lunch in the region’s capital, Perugia, before continuing on to Assisi. We stay for three nights in an attractive agriturismo (farm-stay) in the countryside outside the town. Dinner at the hotel this evening. Overnight Assisi.


 
Day 6

Monte Subasio
This morning we visit the tiny monk’s cell where Saint Francis came to meditate. We’ll then walk on the summit of Monte Subasio and down to the beautiful town of Spello. After a visit and lunch we’ll stroll back to our country hotel. Dinner at the hotel this evening. Overnight Assisi.


 
Day 7

Assisi
This morning we walk 5 km (3 miles) to nearby Assisi. We tour the town and visit the Basilica of St. Francis, with its amazing fresco paintings. After lunch, we partially retrace our steps back to our country inn. In the early evening, after an aperitivo on the terrace, we’ll enjoy a meal with our hosts. Overnight Assisi.


 
Day 8

Bevagna & Montefalco
We travel to Bevagna, an important Roman town along the Via Flaminia, and then to Montefalco, the “balcony” of Umbria, as famous for its view as for its full-bodied, red Sagrantino wine. After arriving in Spoleto, we walk through the town, over the marvelous Ponte delle Torri, and along the slopes of Monteluco to reach the wonderful Romanesque church of San Pietro. Dinner on your own this evening. Overnight Spoleto


 
Day 9

Norcia & Piano Grande
We begin with a drive through the valley of the River Nera to reach the ancient walled town of Norcia, which is nestled among the Monti Sibellini and was the birthplace of Saint Benedict. After time to purchase supplies, we head up to the Piano Grande, one of Italy’s most spectacular natural wonders! We’ll picnic there, walk through flower-strewn meadows to reach the inghiottitoio, and then visit Castelluccio, where most the lentils consumed by Italians at New Year are grown. Back to Spoleto for a final night meal together. Overnight Spoleto


 
Day 10

Arrivedercì
Morning drop-off at the Orte train station, for connections on the Rome-Florence rail line.

No fixed departure dates. You choose when you want to go. There can be just two of you or a group of friend. You can also plan it as a family vacation. Private guide and services throughout the program. We are flexible and able to make adjustments to the program in order for us to meet all your needs and expectations.
