Arrival in New Delhi
Late evening arrival in New Delhi. Meet MVE representative for transfer to hotel. Overnight in New Dehli. Meals aloft.
The morning and early afternoon will be for resting and adjusting to the time change. Orientation lunch in the afternoon to meet tour leader and to discuss the journey over the next few days. After lunch a and have a chance to get a taste for life in New Delhi. Later in the afternoon we
New Delhi – Agra (Taj Mahal)
In the morning depart by coach for Agra. In the afternoon you will pay a visit to the Taj Mahal described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love. You will have time to admire its amazing architecture and walk the beautiful surrounding grounds. Dinner and overnight in Agra.
Agra – Ranthambore
An early morning visit to the Taj Mahal before breakfast. After breakfast we will travel 45 kms by coach to visit the red sand stone city of Fatehpur Sikri, a world heritage site. Construction of this city began in 1571 and it is made up of elaborate palaces, formal courtyards, reflecting pools, harems, tombs and a great mosque. The carved stone architecture is cut from brilliant red sandstone which provides the buildings with their unusual luster. Lunch will be at the Bagh hotel in Bharatpur, 65 kms from Fatehpur Sikri. After lunch we will take our train “Shatabdi Express” to Ranthambore. Late afternoon arrival at Ranthambore where we will check in to our luxurious tented camps.
Ranthambore National Park is famous for its tiger and is a favorite with photographers and others interested in nature experiences. In 1980 the Ranthambore National Park was declared a national park after previously being the hunting ground of Maharaja of Jaipur. The total area of the national park stands at 1,334 sq km and it has deciduous forests, which were once a part of the magnificent jungles of Central India. The terrain is rugged and there are rocky ridges, hills and open valleys with lakes and pools. We will spend the day on a safari with our naturalist guide. Overnight in tented camps.
Ranthambore - Jaipur
After morning safari and breakfast we will depart by coach for Jaipur. Along the way we will stop for lunch at a village resort called Chokhi Dhani. We will arrive in Jaipur and check in to our hotel.
Today we will explore Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan popularly known as the 'pink city' because of the ochre-pink hue of its old buildings. We will visit the Amber Fort on elephant back and see the famous Hanuman temple. After lunch we will visit the Anokhi museum of fabrics and block printing. Overnight in Jaipur.
Jaipur – Jodhpur
Today we will travel by air from Jaipur to Jodhpur. Jodhpur is located among sandstone hills and is one of Rajastan’s most distinctive cities. Referred to as the “blue city”, Jodhpur has over 500 years of traditions and is renowned for being the center of handicrafts, vibrant colors and local people dressed in typical clothing and beautiful jewelry. After checking into our hotel we will visit the city and have the opportunity to walk around to enjoy the sights of Jodhpur. Overnight in Jodhpur.
In the morning we will depart for a village visit to learn about the traditional ways of life of local villagers and farmers etc. We will also meet with an organization working with water conservation and women’s self help groups. In the evening we will enjoy a delicious dinner at Mehrangarh Fort overlooking the city below. The fort is one of Rajastan’s finest and its interior is made up of a series of courtyards and palaces. The palace apartments house a splendid collection of the trappings of the Indian royalty. Overnight in Johdpur.
Johdpur – Nimaj Palace
After a relaxed breakfast we drive approximately 100 kms to visit the “Bisnoi” villages to see the opium ceremony and reach the Bala Sati Mata Ashram of "Bavji". The ashram is dedicated to a woman saint who renounced food and water at her early age until her mortal departure in 1986. Board the coach from the ashram and reach Nimaj at 1:30 for lunch at Nimaj Palace. Overnight at the Nimaj Palace.
After a relaxed breakfast, we visit the Chhatra Sagar Lake, which is still the personal lake of Nimaj Jagirdar family. We will see the canal for irrigation of their personal farmland that also provides water to the near by villages. We will enjoy a traditional lunch at the lake. After lunch we will have a chance to explore the farms and interact with the villagers to learn more about their customs and lifestyle. Tea will be arranged with local farmers. Early evening visit to the 9th century Temple of Goddess Durga, which has beautiful carved statues. Overnight at the Nimaj Palace.
Nimaj – Jodhpur – Delhi
Drive back to Jodhpur to fly back to Delhi. Overnight at hotel in Delhi.

We will start our day with a morning tour of fascinating Old Delhi with a representative of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural heritage (INTACH). Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India between the mid-17th and late 19th centuries. You will stroll through colorful bazaars, visit monuments and get a taste for life in New Delhi. Lunch at Oberoi Maidens. Fly out in the evening.
